fast-paced board and card game for two to four players

in collaboration with Tor de Vries, Tracy Coppola, Uken Huang

Bugs! is a fast-action, strategy, board game played on a grid of hexagons. The objective of the game is to be the first player to create a path of bugs from a players starting point to the end point by linking cards together. Each player is designated by a bug. Different bugs are affected differently in the game. Each player has a stack of hexagonal game cards, and may draw from this stack to fuel a constant hand of five cards. These cards have two colors on them. Cards can be placed next to each other when they have matching colors. Weapon cards interspersed in the stacks allow the player to disrupt the linking of other players. Super bug cards that can be placed next to any color and cannot be disrupted.

client:New School University

in collaboration with Jacqueline Steck, Even Harper

An educational game teaching players about history and the electoral college specifically, Swing State was conceived by myself and two other designers. We were hired to create a networked concept game for the XBOX and presentation materials. Over a two month process we created the rule set, concept art, storyboards, and illustative animations. The game was presented to Bill Gates by the New School University president and subsequently was further developed in by a second team of designers.
